A small, biased investigation

Cats make
life better.

Soft paws. Exacting standards. A fearless commitment to sleeping in the sun. The case is almost embarrassingly strong.

What’s not to like?

“Cats are the only roommates who can stare directly at you while doing absolutely nothing—and somehow make it look important.”

Cats are some of the best companions a human can get: tiny roommates with enormous range. Sure, they sit, sleep, and eat all day. But they always find a way to give you funny moments.

They look like a nap. They feel like a nap. Occasionally, they purr like a tiny engine while you take one.

Every box is a chair. Every patch of sun is reserved. Every keyboard is where you need it most.

“A cat is a little bit of wildness that agreed to live with you.”

— an extremely correct thought

Do less.
Mean it more.

Cats are some of the laziest nocturnal predators around. Their dream agenda leaves plenty of room for 18 hours of sleep, a few hours of eating and quietly judging the room, a few more hours of bothering you, and at least two hours of sitting somewhere important to think some more. And yet, they can look so grumpy. But in reality, even the grumpiest cat of them all, Grumpy Cat, was still happy.

That is part of the charm. A cat can spend the whole day napping, wake up looking mildly inconvenienced by the existence of time, and still expect dinner to arrive exactly on schedule. Some people wish they were cats—and honestly, who can blame them? The sunspots, the snacks, the unshakable confidence. We just were not all fortunate enough to be born with whiskers and a personal nap agenda.

More cats.
More joy.
